Parallels Support – last post, for now

Yippieh!
I got a new download link from Parallels support, getting the english version of Parallels Desktop. There was no requirement entering my license information, but it seems to be stored somewhere in my settings. Product activated. Outlook works fine, too.
Great! Thank you, Support!
Parallels Support – oh, already 5th post

As introduced I asked Parallels for a new license, because the original does not work with the newly installed software I was asked to download and install. The technical support agent asked me to wait, because he wanted to forward my ticket to license support. Ok, yet another day delay. This night I got a response from license support.
You are trying to upgrade Parallels Desktop 5.0 English from Parallels Desktop 4.0 Germany which is not possible as localization problem exists.
No, obviously I’m not! If you would have taken the time to read the history you would have been able to recognize it. I just want to have working software. Aren’t you guys talking to each other? I thought generation support chaos is over since all companies are using sophisticated multi-group, multi-channel support solutions, but it seems Parallels really needs help in support processes.
But, I got a special offer! I can (re- / up- ?)grade to a different locale. It’s just 39,90 €. Great, just to have the stuff working. No, Parallels, this can’t be the truth. Waiting for their next answer. Keep you posted!

Got a quick answer after 8 hours. They’re promising to help me. Let’s see.
Parallels continues – 4th post

My license issue is not resolved. First I had so send screenshots to support so that they know what’s going on with my license key. While recording a screencast (to make really sure) I realized I’m having one original license Key for Parallels 2.5 and upgrade keys for 3, 4 and 5. I’m curious if I now have to install 2.5, 3 and 4 first or if they give me a working 5 license.
Another item:
Today I received a nive E-Mail from Parallels Munich asking me to upgrade to Parallels 5 in german language.
Warum warten?
Erfahren Sie, warum Branchenexperten Parallels Desktop 5 für Macals "atemberaubend" und "beeindruckend" bezeichnen und das "Upgrade auf die neueste Version" empfehlen.
They are asking me to experience why Experts are count Parallels as “breathtaking and impressing”. Great marketing! But yes, the whole experience is breathtaking!
Honestly. I still like the product, believe in it and I hope that Parallels is getting big enough quite fast being able to get european based support engineers. And I’d like to emphasize that their pricing is fair from my point of view.
Parallels Desktop Support – 3rd try

As reported I’m in contact with Parallels Desktop Support. The next mail arrived tonight and I got asked to re-install Parallels completely. I did as requested. During the re-installation I got asked for my license key. So I typed it in, but Parallels Desktop told me this license key is not valid. I continued using a trial key.
After re-installing Parallels Tools in my Virtual Machine, which has not been deleted during re-install of Parallels the virtual Machine had to reboot. So I started Outlook and my issue seems to be solved. Thank yo for your support, Parallels Team!
My only remaining issue is the non-valid license Key, but I’m pretty sure Parallels is going to solve this as well.
Parallels Desktop Support – 2nd Post

As reported few days ago I had some issues with creating a support ticket with Parallels Desktop Support.
Finally I was able to open a ticket with Parallels Desktop Support.
Due to the time zone difference (I guess) I’m getting replies to my e-mails, which I’m sending in the morning hours Central European Time, at 11PM CET, so basically when I’m at sleep. So there is a chance to exchange one e-mail per day.
My issue is still adding pictures from my Mac-Desktop to E-mails which I’m sending with Microsoft Outlook in my virtual machine.
After sending two e-mails back and forth they now suggested turning off shared profiles and trying to add pictures from my Windows Desktop as a workaround! What the hack? Are they crazy? This is like my car dealer is telling me taking a sled if my car is broken, instead of repairing my car (which sounds very likely with my BMW car dealer in Dortmund, but that’s a different story I’m going to tell you later).
So the mail ing-pong game continues…. Keep you posted.
